Poco M2 Pro vs. Poco X2 specs, price comparison: Fair battle between India’s newest mid-range smartphones
Poco India delivered its promise of making 2020 the year the brand returns with new smartphones, especially for the Indian consumers. It has so far unveiled two new mid-range smartphones in the first half, including the Poco X2 in the first quarter followed by Poco M2 Pro this month.
Specs of both devices are comparable for the most part. It is then not surprising if there are tech fans still debating whether the purchase the Poco X2 or the Poco M2 Pro that just became available this week.
Where Poco X2 is better
After a quick check on these smartphones’ technical specs sheet, it is fair to say that Poco X2 has several advantages over the M2 Pro. They might have the same display size at 6.67 inches, but the X2 supports 120Hz refresh rate.
Its RAM and storage options are also superior. The base Poco X2 model is a 6GB + 64GB configuration, and the variants can go up to 8GB + 256 GB. Poco M2 Pro, on the other hand, does not have an 8GB RAM variant nor a 256GB storage.
Poco X2 also wins in the camera specs, even though both smartphones have four lenses on the rear. The X2 has a 64-megapixel wide shutter compared to M2 Pro’s 48MP lens. But the latter has a tad better macro camera with 5MP capacity compared to X2’s 2MP. For selfies, the X2 has a better offer as well with a dual-camera (20MP + 2MP) in the front while M2 Pro only has a 16MP lens.
Poco M2 Pro’s slight advantage
Meanwhile, it is important to note that the Poco M2 Pro is not overall inferior to the X2. The smartphone, which became available on Flipkart this week, is being advertised for its battery. It boasts a 5,000mAh capacity compared to X2’s 4,500mAh. The M2 Pro also supports 33W fast charging tech while X2 is only at 27W.
The CPU on both devices is also an interesting comparison because the M2 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 720G which, according to Qualcomm’s website, has a clock speed of 2.3GHz. This is slightly faster than the Snapdragon 730G’s 2.2GHz that is in the Poco X2.
At the end of the day, consumers should choose the Poco device that suits their needs. Those who like great-looking photos might lean more toward the Poco X2, but people who use battery-demanding apps might find Poco M2 Pro a better fit for them. X2’s price currently starts at ₹15,999 (~$213) while the cheapest M2 Pro model is available at ₹13,999 (~$187).
